A) License - top

PhotoView is licensed under the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE. You can view the license here.

B) Installation - top

STEP 1. Unzip the PhotoView Theme folder.

STEP 2. Upload the theme folder to your /wp-content/themes/ directory.

STEP 3. Now go to Appearance » Themes and activate the "PhotoView" theme.

NOTE: If you have trouble installing the theme then please visit http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes for detailed installation instructions.


C) Adding Photos - top

You must add a custom field with the value and name "photo-post"

You need to use the custom fields box, to add the images to the post. The options you have are thumb, image and fullsize. image and thumb are required, fullsize is not.

Just upload your photo using the WordPress media uploader, copy the photo's URL and paste it in to the custom fields box.

Also you need to go to Settings » Media in the WordPress admin and change the settings to match the image below. The large image size is up to you, but the others must be the same as the image.

D) Adding Videos - top

You must add a custom field with the value and name "video-post"

Get the embed code for your video, make sure you change the size to 460 x 259. Create a custom field on your post with the name "video" and paste the embed code in the "value" input box. For the thumbnail you will need to upload your image manually with the wordpress uploader and paste the URL in to the "value" field of a custom field with the name "thumb" (size must be 210 x 124).

Get the embed code for your video, and paste it into the "value" input field of a custom field with the name "video". You will need to change the width & height to 460 and 359 (There is two places you need to do this in the embed code). For the thumbnail you will need to upload your image manually with the wordpress uploader and paste the URL in to the "value" field of a custom field with the name "thumb" (size must be 210 x 124).

To use you own custom logo, use the logo.psd file included in the download.

STEP 1. Open logo.psd

STEP 2. Customize it to your liking.

STEP 3. Save it as logo.gif. (If you want to use jpg or png instead, you will need to change the h1 a CSS in the stylesheet as well.)

STEP 4. Replace the old logo in the images folder, with your new one.


F) PSD Files - top

There are two psd's included with this theme:

  1. The site layout
  2. The logo

G) Custom Avatar - top

To active the custom avatar that's included in this theme, you need to:

STEP 1. In the wordpress admin go to the discussion page (under settings)

STEP 2. Under Default Avatar select "Theme Default"

STEP 3. Click "Save Changes".

If you want to use your own custom avatar, just replace default-avatar.gif with your own image. (located in the images folder)
